There are two essential things you should know to protect your pets if something were to happen to you.
The first is that if you pass away or become disabled with no one at home to care for your pets, local authorities are required to take your pet to your local animal control agency, which for Collier County is Domestic Animal Services (DAS). It is very important, if you want them to come to HSN, to call your microchip company and have Humane Society Naples listed after you as an emergency contact.
Secondly, leaving a plan for your pets in your will does not protect them until after your will has been probated. And probate can take a fairly long time.
Please review our Forever Plan for your Pet for these and other important things you should know about how to protect your pets should something happen to you.
