HSN Assists in Clewiston Hoarding Situation

Humane Society Naples recently worked with other shelters and rescues around Florida to assist in a hoarding situation out of Clewiston, Florida where approximately 65 dogs were rescued from a private home.

In addition to four dogs from the hoarding situation, HSN took an additional five dogs from Clewiston Animal Shelter to bring a total nine dogs back to Naples for a chance at finding their forever homes. This gives Clewiston Animal Shelter the opportunity to assist even more animals locally by opening up space at their shelter. The remaining dogs from the hoarding situation were taken by other partnering shelters and rescues.

“While it breaks our hearts to think of the conditions these dogs had to endure, we are so proud that HSN can partner with other shelters in the region and assist in this type of situation. Our community stands strong for our animals, and we are always happy to lead the charge,” says Sarah Baeckler, HSN Chief Executive Officer.

Gary, a sweet 4-year-old male, is one of the four rescued from the hoarding situation. The first photo shows the conditions in which he was found and the remaining two photos show him after arriving at HSN.

Upon arrival at HSN, our veterinary team performed a medical examination. After being cleared medically, their behavior with other dogs will be evaluated to best determine their placement on the adoption floor.

Once cleared for medical and behavior, they will be made available for adoption.

HSN is proud to give these dogs a second chance at life.
