HSN Update: Animals Sent North in Hurricane Ian Relief Efforts

Humane Society Naples is focused on an unprecedented animal rescue campaign in the wake of Hurricane Ian. Until further notice, we will remain closed for adoptions so we can put all our energy into getting animals out of harm’s way. Since the arrival of Hurricane Ian, HSN staff and volunteers have worked around the clock to transport hundreds of animals out of Southwest Florida. Some of our team members have endured major personal loss from the hurricane, and yet they continued to show up to work long hours for the animals who need our help.

The HSN Veterinary Clinic will reopen on Tuesday, October 4th. We’ll announce a reopening date for adoptions in the coming days, but right now our focus is to continue helping the animals displaced by the storm. We will also give our team much-needed time to rest and take care of their own families during this difficult time. Thank you for understanding.

What can you do to help? This massive operation is very costly, so please consider making a donation to HSN at hsnaples.org to support our animal rescue efforts. Every dollar helps us help them.

This morning, Humane Society Naples sent 40 cats from Collier County Domestic Animal Services on a flight to Nashville, Tennessee in partnership with Animal Rescue Corps. This flight was the maiden voyage of Race for Life Rescue and sponsored by BISSELL Pet Foundation. A special thank you to Naples Airport, Naples Aviation and Subaru of Naples for their hard work!

A second flight made its way out today with 66 cats and dogs to Brandywine Valley SPCA, flown by Wings of Rescue. This flight was sponsored by Petco Love. Humane Society Naples would like to thank The Jacksonville Humane Society for connecting us with Brandywine Valley SPCA to help transport these animals north.

Last but certainly not least, PAWS Chicago made the drive to Humane Society Naples to pick up almost 70 cats and dogs to take back to their shelter. We could not be more grateful for our partners who have come from so far away to help! This trip is supported by BISSELL Pet Foundation.
