Kisses for Kaelen

Where is the love for our smart, sweet Kaelen, one of the longest residents at Humane Society Naples? Kaelen is a favorite of both staff and volunteers for her energetic, playful nature and the abundance of affection she is capable of giving—yet, she has been passed over again and again by our visitors.

Gabe Waters, Director of Animal Care, says that Kaelen, a beguiling 2-year-old “…gives the best hugs, man or beast, and will lick and nibble on your neck just happy to be that close. She excels at food puzzles and has had extensive obedience training here at the shelter.” Gabe adds that Kaelen may appear shy at first, but responds well to attention and treats.

Intake Supervisor, Kylie Honecker, describes Kaelen as, “…the best snuggle bunny ever, who always aims to please.”

She and long-time volunteer, Lora Satarelli, agree that the “happy dance”, this medium-sized girl performs often, always makes them smile. “Even on your worst day, she will make you feel better.” Says Lora. “She walks well with her haltie, and really likes playing tug, but even then, she is very gentle.”

Gabe advises that Kaelen would do best where she would be the only pet, and that a household with older children would suit her well. “She is content to be close.” Lora laughs. “She thinks she is a lapdog.”

From February 7 through February 17, each time a visitor interacts with Kaelen in one of our meet and greet rooms, or in a play yard, her volunteer “Secret Admirer” will donate $20 so even more homeless pets can be helped.

You can fill your heart and your home with love this Valentine’s Day by adopting this deserving cutie, and making her a treasured part of your forever family.
