Today marks the start of National Volunteer Week. Established in 1974, National Volunteer Week focuses national attention on the impact and power of volunteerism. This one week of the year highlights the enormous contribution that volunteers make in their local communities on every day and week of the year.
In honor of National Volunteer Appreciation Week, we wish to thank all of our volunteers for their time and support. Volunteering is the giving of your time and energy to help those in need without the expectation of something in return. At Humane Society Naples, the animals are our priority, but sometimes our staff needs help as well. Their dedication and generosity help us to be successful and we could not do what we do without them.
In the past year, HSN volunteers have contributed more than 23,000 hours of their time to volunteering at off-site events, serving the animals at both HSN locations and opening their homes to animals in need of temporary foster stays. This represents a value of more than $560,000! But it’s really worth so much more. The work our volunteers do allows us to find homes for nearly 3,500 animals each year. That’s something you can’t place a dollar sign on.
So, thank you for your choosing to support the work and the mission of Humane Society Naples! We could not provide the high-level and consistency of care that we do for every animal without our ever-expanding and increasingly more pawesome family of volunteers and foster parents! We are thankful for your utmost dedication to caring for the animals in our community.
