Pet Store Ban Community Meeting

On Tuesday, October 8th, the Board of County Commissioners will consider a ban on the retail sales of dogs and cats in Collier County. We need everyone to show up in support of this ban.

Humane Society Naples is hosting an informational meeting on Monday, October 7th from 5:30 to 6:30 pm at our main shelter at 370 Airport-Pulling Road for anyone interested in learning more about how they can help advocate on this important issue.

We are also encouraging everyone to attend the commission meeting on Tuesday. The agenda item, No.12 A, is scheduled to be heard no sooner than 9:30 am. However, this does not mean commissioners will hear the issue exactly at this time. Please plan to arrive early and expect to stay for an extended period of time.

When you arrive, you may sign up to speak on this issue by filling out a speaker’s slip with the agenda item number 12 A and providing it to the desk to the left of the commissioner’s dais. Each speaker has three minutes to share thoughts with commissioners. You do not need to speak for your presence to be impactful. In fact, you can sign up to speak but then cede your time to HSN Executive Director, Sarah Baeckler Davis and you won’t have to speak at all. This will function as a show of support of HSN, its mission and the furry friends we all work so hard to protect. We will be asking for all of the people supporting this ban to stand and be recognized when Sarah speaks.

There is still time to email commissioners your thoughts as well.
