Rescue Recess

Want to spend a day with a shelter dog? Come to Humane Society Naples! Our new Rescue Recess program pairs visitors with eligible dogs for an unforgettable adventure.

This program allows our adult dogs to enjoy a day outside of the shelter. These outings help them manage kennel stress, burn off energy, increase visibly for the pups and encourage members of the public, who normally wouldn’t have time to volunteer, to engage with HSN.

It’s easy – just follow these steps:

• Rescue Recess is offered 7 days a week starting at 8:30 am and to be back by 4 pm. Our shelter is closed to the public on Mondays, so it’s a great day for outings! Please note: On Saturdays and Sundays, we ask that you arrive early and the dog be back to the shelter by noon so they are available for potential adopters.
• Check in at the front desk.
• Look for eligible dogs with the “Take me for Rescue Recess!” tag on their kennel.
• Our Animal Care Team will help you choose your dog.
• Hit the open road and explore Naples!

HSN will provide you with an adopt me vest, leash, collar and backpack full of essential supplies. Common Rescue Recess outings include a walk on a nature trail, a trip to downtown Naples or a nice breakfast/lunch in a pet-friendly restaurant.

At the end of the day, we ask that you please send us photos and share information to help us find this dog a new family. Photos can be sent via email to media@hsnaples.org or posted directly to social media using the hashtag #RescueRecess.
